Well if you always keep in your head the fact that this is a Manufacturing FAULT and Audi have said it is a fault, on watchdog they said it was a fault and said they would replace all dashpods no questions (back in 2006). When the heat died down they then moved the goal posts and said it had to have full Audi SH which is wrong and kept banging on about brand loyalty. My arguement to them was you sort this and I will bring it to you for servicing as I hadnt had the car long. I had to keep pushing as they said NO to start with (was like a dog with a bone at this point) so asked to speak to a manager and explained my situation also helped having another VAG car with full service history even though its a VW Passat. If you're no good at haggling write a few points down on paper before calling to remind you, you have all the tips you need on this thread thats why its worth reading

Iv only had the car 5 months so could say I would like it serviced at Audi (was planning that anyway)
its first couple of stamps are Audi but then the rest are at other garages. if I get it serviced at Audi will that show that I want to be loyal to them? Thanks. |
|
Yes push that fact if they say no and say you always have had main dealer servicing with all your cars and why should you be out of pocket when its no fault of your own really sing Audi main dealers praises for servicing and say you wouldn't trust anyone else to work on your car Milk it Milk it makes them feel better and as long as you get the dashpod done who cares we all know they dont know their arse from their elbow

Haha love the milk it bit
Could maybe also use the fact that my mum is looking at buying a new car and its between the Merc A Class or a TT (I know strange choices ) and that she should go for the Merc as they wouldnt possibly let this sort of thing be put on their customers...lol. (maybe as a last b1tchy attempt)Also was wondering..isnt it sort of blackmail to say you will only change pods on cars that have FASH? |

For them to say they will only do cars with full Audi service history for this problem is just wrong, but then if they are paying they can call the shots
All I would say is just book your car in for service dont have it done, make sure you book well in advance so you have time to sort this before the service is done then it can be all done at the same time thats what I did with mine, if they say NO they wont do it FOC least you can cancel the service and go to an Audi specialist for better cheaper service. Look on Audi's website they're doing oil change services for £99 and full service for £249 make sure you mention this to the dealer when booking the service these are NOT variable services so 1 year or 12000 miles. If you dont mention the Audi offer they will do a variable service so small service will be £200 plus and full service £400 plus only difference is this will be 18000 miles or 2 years.http://www.audi.co.uk/owners-area/servi ... icing.html ![]() |

Just contacted Audi Customer Services and got absolutely no where!
It's the same old story of no full Audi sevice history then no goodwill! Tried playing the loyalty card as I had the 2001 TTr serviced at Audi about two weeks after having bought it last July, that did no good. Mentioned the fact that there were loads of us in the same boat, again didn't wash. The only thing that was mentioned was whether I had owned an Audi or Volkswagen before, which unfortunately I hadn't. Should I have they might have looked at offering goodwill.......bugger! Good luck for anyone struggling to get the pod replaced! Silver '01, 225 bhp roadster, baseball leather

I just popped into Audi today and after dribbling all over the R8 I managed to drag myself to the customer service desk...decided to play it a bit dumb (not hard) I said I was driving along and my car suddenly conked out and after being recovered I was told I was out of petrol...but the petrol gauge still was well over the red. The man said "oh really, thats strange".."you can book it in for diagnostics"
I asked how much that would cost and he said £69!! I asked what he thought the problem could be and he said it could be something to do with the dashpod. How much to fix?? errr £800+ He then askes if I have a full service history..which I have..but not FASH he then said if I had FASH then they might of helped to pay for some of the cost of replacing it. didnt get a chance to tell them I also owned a VW...maybe I will chuck that in but just not tell them its a Mk1 Polo..lol He wanted me to book it in there and then..but I said I would be in contact. Going to phone tomorrow and pretend Iv been looking the problem up on the net and say I have seen the Watchdog clip saying that audi would replace them FOC. |

It did help with me also owning a VW Passat, they asked if I minded if they checked up on the service history, that was no problem as it was full VW I only had the last one done but luckily had it done at VW because they price matched my independent but it all helped as my TT's last 2 services were at an indy...............and slip into the conversation that your VW will have to be changed soon

Hi
does the common dashpon fault affect every dial of the cluster? I initially changed the water pump on my 2001 TT because I thought the engine was over cooking. ive been told the old one had a plastic impeller which was bound to break so it was worth doing anyway. I had the cluster repaired because of the temp gauge and the speedometer started dying. Now the speed and rev counter seems fine, but fuel and temp gauge wont work properly.....is the only fix to get a rediculously expensive cluster from Audi? Ive not got the service history, not when they charge a gazillion squiller per hour labour

Check the range indication on the DIS. If it matches the gauge your dashpod is fine and it's likely the fuel sensor or wiring etc.

It's not happened to me yet, but if it does I'll be going down the non-Audi repair route with BBA Reman or such like (if you go back through this thread or search, you'll see people have done this successfully, so Audi aren't the only option). Like you, I've not got full audi service history, but then the amount I've saved over the years way more than compensates for not getting this done free, so I'm not too broken-hearted. me: Elise 111r (black, remap)

I like that attitude and will adopt it as my own! |
|
There is a man you can send the cluster off to and if its ok he will charge £35 and send it back or £200 if it needs fixing. But its not fair because these should last the life of the car. |
