Hopefully everyone affected by this has contacted Watchdog. From day one of this thread people were asked to fill in the form.I joined this topic quite early and was lucky enough to get a result without FASH.They must have a substantial amount of complaints on this now and hopefully feature it in their programme soon and expose Audi for their scandolous U turn [smiley=gossip.gif]

Don't forget that it was 'Watchdog' exposure that persuaded Audi to do the decent thing many years ago regarding the Dashpod issue.
And it's only from last April that Audi have renaged on their promises made (on air?) to Watchdog.
IIRC it was hard work back then to get them to admit the problem, and that a dashpod would then be guaranteed for the lifetime of a car.

Done the watchdog thing ages ago, wrote to Audi UK and Audi AG, no joy. This needs a mass of TT owners protesting either outside the Head Office or a local dealership to expose them. They will soon examine their decision again when they lose customers.

Forget the MOT bit, I offered to have service and Cambelt change, still no joy.

Firm action is needed [smiley=argue.gif]

After unsuccessful attempts to have my dashpod replaced/repaired through the dealership and ACS i have bitten the bullit and got it repaired at a place called Revtronics. I know that it's an obvious problem caused by Audi installing dashpods that can go faulty but for the price Revtronics charged, to me wasn't worth the stress and expence of travelling, phone calls etc to pursue Audi on the matter. Living close and being able to drop the dash off it cost a total of £135 to have it repaired. They charge slightly more if you have to use postage but they were very proffessional and quick turnaround.

Hi

My wife has just bought a 2002 225 Roadster, and we have been looking closely at the many posts on this forum, this dashpod problem is obviously one of the downsides of what is a fantastic car. How common is the problem, has anybody ever tried to find out just how many have been reported as faulty ?

It also seems a good time to place pressure on Audi, in light of the difficulties that Toyota are going through at the moment. Not sure what the best approach would be, but I am sure if everyone thats on this Forum and had a dashpod failure, reports it to Watchdog and any other consumer advice organisation. Giving details, costs, etc and Audi's response it would do the cause no harm.

Just a thought.

Great Forum by the way.

Typical dashpod failure. Dash flashing on/off, needles flickering dashpod staying on at times after the car had been turned off. Audi did go to the trouble of doing a free diagnostic check to confirm that the dashpod was faulty but were not willing to do any more towards replacement as goodwill. My car they say didn't have full Audi service history which is now the criteria (Although it does have full independant service history). Even after threatening them with everything i have read on this discussion it was to no avail. At the end of the day i'm happy with my choice to have it repaired independantly, it's not right by any means that i should be out of pocket but it's done and it's over for me. I hope all that are pursuing Audi have greater luck than i did on this occaision.

I agree; what a contrast in attitude - Toyota: Yes there's a problem, we are sorry, we will fix it.
Audi: No, there's no problem - Oh Watchdog have drawn our attention to an alledged problem, OK we will fix it
on some cars. Gosh Watchdog says that's not good enough, OK we will fix it on all (UK supplied?) cars for the life of the car.
A few years pass ...... Audi, we will go back on our promise to fix all the few TTs that have this problem.

Are Audi commercially stupid? How much can it cost them (they may pass the cost on to the dashpod manufacturer anyway?)
to fix the small number of effected cars? How much goodwill, reputation and future sales have they lost for this short-term gain?

I am having problems with my dash and my car has a FSH but only part from and Audi garage. I have heard that as long as the garage you have had your car serviced at is VAT registered then legally Audi cant insist that the car has a full Audi network service history can anybody advise me on this?

My V-reg 225 TT is presently undergoing repair at local stealer re intermittent starting issues. Turns out they may have, after extensive investigations, found an intermittent wiring fault to the dashpod. They were intially indicating that they'd need to change the daspod at a cost of £800, despite the dashpod being only 2 years old. So the dashpod in my TT was changed FOC back in Nov 2007, before Audi deided to change the rules. As you say, Audi now say that a full Audi service history is required. Had they needed to change my pod this time I would have been seriously miffed, especially being that my TT is regularly serviced...just not by Audi.

See also below...just found by searching google for 'block exemption. Also, what i'd like to know is...what does an Audi Service do in realtion to the dashpod that makes a non-Audi service 'invalid' re the dashpod????

"In October 2003 European Union legislation, ‘Block Exemption Regulations 1400/2002’ (BER) came into force

This gave motorists more freedom in their decision as to who should repair and service their vehicles – now any garage can be used without invalidating the manufacturer’s warranty (subject to certain conditions)."

The way Audi got away with it as they never accepted liability, they always said there's a alledged problem, and we are replacing as a "good will" Gesture... I don't think i've ever seen a statement from audi saying yes the dashpods are faulty... so with that being said it's not covered under the Block exemption regulations...

I got mine free a few months ago.. (because i took the girl on the desk out   ) never got any paperwork though so i think audi did it on the sly.. but this being said i still argued the toss that how does who changes my oil affect my dashpod... then you get the it's goodwill we'll replace it as a favour if your loyal enough to come to audi....

unfortuntly the relationship didn't work out... her staff discount on parts wasn't high enough

I have just brought a 2002 TT and my dashpod has the same erratic temp and fuel reading problems. Can I have this girls number you went out with so I can see if I can get my dashpod done FOC. Was she an expensive date though, have to weigh up the cost of a couple of dates against cost of fixing it myself :P

Hi,

First post on here...

Have a TT that has had the dashpod replaced, a long time ago which Audi charged for then reimbursed after Watchdog etc.
The car has full Audi service history and now the dashpod is on its way out again - temp too high and a fuel guage reading way too high and jumping about.

Spoke to guy in the dealership and he said that even with FASH they would charge if it has already been replaced.

Is there any way to know that when they replaced it they actually used an improved version or just put another crappy pod back in?

Any advice is appreciated, just doesnt seem worth having full Audi service history on a 100k car when they want to charge over £100 just for diagnostic check. No reward for loyalty.

As far as I was aware so long as you have a fash they can't refuse to replace the dash. What reason have they given for charging you for a replacement?

Go to Audi Customer Service UK and state your claim. With FASH, you should get it FOC.
